Dragapella! starring The Kinsey Sicks

Daring, sublime, talented and overall entertaining – The Kinsey Sicks of Dragapella sure know how to please a crowd. After performing together for over 23 years and producing 9 albums, these drag queens will have you laughing and singing along to their four part harmonies for all the wrong reasons.

‘Are you looking for something a little titillating? Something a little bit naughty but still safe? Glamorous female impersonators you can laugh at from the comfort of your certifiable heterosexual seat? Then you came to the wrong f***ing show.’

Before the show began, I originally thought the performance would be based around humorous, sleazy references to the recent US election that resulted in Donald Trump becoming president. Boy, was I wrong!

Indeed, there are certainly references to last year’s election, but it does not centre the entire performance. Be sure to prepare yourself for unexpected sexual references and possible lap dances for those sitting in the front row. The parodies of songs that everyone knows are also incredibly inventive and hilarious when sung in a four-part accpella style. For example, Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin had been parodied into ‘Unnatural Woman’, as too did ‘I’ll Follow Him’ into ‘I’ll Swallow Him’ and Aussie favourite ‘Waltzing Matilda’ also got a mention but sung as ‘Waltzing my Dildo’.

Everything Adelaide loved seeing The Kinsey Sicks for ourselves and their crazy, ridiculously out there show that engages the audience whether they feel uncomfortable or not.

Be sure to catch Dragapella! starring The Kinsey Sicks in The Garden of Unearthly Delights all Fringe season.
