If you are still yet to decide which show to see this Fringe season, consider award winning UK comedic magician Paul Dabek with his show ‘Look at Me’. After exceeding at last year’s Fringe, Dabek has returned with more illusions and laughs.
Last Thurday evening (Feb 9), Everything Adelaide was invited to The Propaganda Club for drinks, nibbles and a sneak preview of Dabek’s show. It’s fair to say that he had a rather tough mix of audience members considering nearly all those that attended were bloggers, PR members and media professionals – no pressure at all. Though within the first three minutes of his British banter and tactic of making fun of himself, the audience opened up to his mischievous style of humour.
As for the magic, the illusions demonstrated may seem simple but are also incredibly mind-boggling – even if you’re sitting in the front row you’ll be asking yourself ‘how does he do it?’
This quick-paced hour-long show will have you hysterically laughing until your stomach hurts from Dabek’s cheeky comments mixed with fun, social audience interactions. The humour is mild with course language and sexual references, which all adds to the fun.
Be sure to go see this hilariously impressive illusion show all Fringe season from February 16 to March 19 (excluding Mondays). For more information and prices be sure to check out the Adelaide Fringe Festival page.
