It’s been a wild ride in Adelaide for the past two weeks, and it’s only going up from here. In the wake of the crazy weather that has rocked our city last week, I was apprehensive to say the least at the prospect of driving in pitch black and pouring rain to the Adelaide Fashion Festival Bloggers Breakfast, held on the 4th of October at On the Run, Fullarton.
As an initial blogger event part of the Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF), it was difficult to know what to expect. I almost drove past it the location, pulling my car into the service station in the nick of time. After a mad sprint to get inside under the pouring rain, I was greeted by the manager of OTR with a steaming cup of coffee, a gesture greatly appreciated! I began to mingle with fellow bloggers, local designers and hair and beauty teams, incredible people who will help to shape Adelaide Fashion Festival into a world-class event.
The breakfast was hosted by The Writing’s Tania Debono and AFF Creative Director Chris Kontos, who delivered an impassioned speech about the upcoming festival. Guests were issued with an AFF Survival Kit that included such items as minties, energy drinks, a program guide and much more! It was safe to say we were a little spoilt.
The spoils did not end there, as we were treated to some of the goodies that OTR provides its customers on a daily basis. Kranskies from the Barossa Valley, freshly squeezed juice and fresh donuts were all handed out to the guests. While the rain teemed down outside, the atmosphere inside was cosy and inviting as we talked excitedly about the upcoming events soon to come at the AFF, a celebration of innovative South Australian design and style. From October 19th-23rd, 10 designer runways and 20 events will showcase new season looks and up-and-coming local designers.
Some of the events include:
‘Daring and Disruptive’ lunch at Mercedes Benz Adelaide, on Wednesday the 19th of October
‘Contemporary Women’s Fashion’ runway event in Victoria Square on Thursday 20th October
‘South Oz’ design market at AFF Runway Hub from the 21st to the 22nd of October.
