An essential in every girl’s wardrobe is a LBD (little black dress). For the number of times you’re left stressing about what to wear, it’s certainly the number one item to turn to!
On Friday the 24th of June, Everything Adelaide attended a night of fashion and glam at The Black Dress event all made possible by Boutique Series. The event took place at the Mercedes-Benz show room at Mile End making it glamourous, stylish and sophisticated. Hosted by Adelady’s Hayley Pearson and Lauren De Cesare, the runway showcased over 50 local and national designer’s spin on the ultimate black dress.
Upon arrival we sipped on Finnisse River Vineyard wine as we listened to the harmonious tunes of Litters from Triple J. After walking around the showroom and eyeing off the prestigious Mercedes-Benz cars on display wishing we drove around in one, the stunning Girl About Town girls ushered us to our seats, ready for the show to begin. We sat amongst some of Adelaide’s best bloggers and fashion enthusiasts, everyone was so excited to see the runway begin.
The sold out crowd were treated to a spectacular showcase of some of the seasons’ hottest fashion pieces. The models made their way down the runway to an innovative sound track composed by the man behind the event, Adelaide’s own DJ and runway producer, Filip with an F (Filip Odzak). As Filip named each designer the beautiful Finesse model’s styled by Cimon Vozzo made their way onto the runway showing off some breathtaking pieces.
The one common theme amongst the range of bold statement items was the colour black, of course. It was interesting to see how different designers took a standard colour and created such lively fashion with it. Many of the pieces sparkled with sequins and beads hitting the light, while others were refreshingly simple.
It wasn’t just about the ladies as men’s fashion was also taken care of with the Finesse men sporting designers such as Jack London, Calibre, TY-LR and Nana Judy down the runway. Our favourite pieces were the Calibre black and white checked blazer and the black Nana Judy jacket, both winners in our eyes!
Along with the incredible dresses on display a stand out for us was the stunning model’s hair styled by Zink Hair. It was a creative and sleek twist on the average ‘pony tail’ which complimented all the dresses perfectly. All of their makeup was also flawless as they all glowed on the catwalk thanks to SA makeup artist, Lauren Parkinson.
After witnessing over 50 incredible designs, it wasn’t easy to pick a favourite although we must say, one of Australia’s leading designers; Steven Khalil did not disappoint. Two of his dresses that hit the runway were a stand out for us. One being a simply yet elegant long sleeved gown with an open back and the other a sexy corset like bodice with a detailed sheer bottom. Local, Jaimie Sortino also blew us away with his black number, a long sleeve sheer lace dress, absolutely stunning!
Every women needs a little black dress and what an incredible night it was celebrating this iconic wardrobe item with all proceeds going to the Leukaemia Foundation. A great cause, and a great event.
