Breakfast at Jarmer’s Kitchen

Everyone has that one cafe or restaurant they’ve always driven passed or heard about but have never experienced for themselves. For me, this place was Jarmer’s Kitchen up until a few days ago. Located near the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Park Terrace at Bowden, Jarmer’s Kitchen is a convenience go-to cafe for a quick coffee or a dine-in dish.

Their attractive breakfast menu not only welcomes you with the great selection of dishes, but also literally says ‘Good Morning’ on the front. The prices are decent ranging from $9 for a simple egg and bacon dish to $20 for the full JK breakfast experience. Thankfully, there is also a gluten free bread option available for only an extra $1! Compared to other cafes around Adelaide, that’s an incredibly decent price. A variety of freshly squeezed juices are also an alternate healthy option to coffee or tea and only cost $6-7.

After checking out the menu and changing my options twice, I couldn’t say no to buttermilk pancakes with cream, berries and good old maple syrup. Although I have been eating gluten free food by choice for almost two years now, I decided to be a bit naughty and choose the non-gluten free pancakes.

While waiting for the food, I was admiring the urban design within the cafes premises. The glaze of white bricks, matching seats and strings of ceiling lights compliment one another well with the decor. The flattering wall of beverage bottles behind the counter would be perfect for dinner and drinks on a Friday night.

When the food arrived, the pancakes looked appealing despite their individual shape sizes. Spreading the cream and berries onto the hot surface sprinkled in icing sugar, it gave the dish a mix is texture and sweetness. Even though the pancakes were gluten free, I don’t regret choosing the dish.

Jarmer’s Kitchen is a fine breakfast or lunch shop to check out with friends or family. Though the parking space is limited, the meal was worth it. The service was also on time as I didn’t need to wait longer than ten minutes for our food to arrive. Next time Everything Adelaide will be sure to check out the dinner menu and wine list. I’m confident Jarmer’s won’t disappoint.

  1. I’ve been trying to get my hubby to go to Jarmers with me for ages! I’ve heard nothing but good things about the place… and like you, I’ve driven past it a million times without giving it a second thought. I’ll have to make the effort now!
