A Radelaide Love Affair

RADELAIDE, what a thriving city it is. Bursting to the brim with potential, and the world is catching on. With outstanding top-class bars and restaurants opening on every corner, innovative festivals and a burgeoning social scene, Adelaide is a serious competitor in entertainment stakes. The city needs to show off! Over twenty of the very best Adelaide businesses and products were showcased last night at Yelp Adelaide’s ‘Love Affair’ event, and oh my, it was an epic treat!

Held in the unique Published Arthouse, an eccentric venue that resembled a converted warehouse, the excitement in the air was palpable. A distinct glow emanated from inside, green and blue fairy lights wove their way around the columns and a steady hippie beat thumped out of the DJ’s deck. The lights were dim, but bright enough to see the endless products tantalisingly waiting to be sampled.

I joined a sea of excited fellow Adelaidians streaming into the venue long before it officially opened. Unmistakably this was a popular event, with many keen to get a taste of the samples of to-die-for products on offer. Some of our most note-worthy food and drink businesses were in their element, handing out samples to the delight of event-goers.

The crowd was dense, and the lines grew very quickly as the time passed. To see so much enthusiasm for local South Australian businesses was very positive.

Just a few of the products I sampled included:
– Mis match brewing: The ‘session ale’ was a standout. www.mismatchbrewing.com.au
– Oh Deer Sugar: Vegan bath products smelled amazing! www.ohdeersugar.com
– Itty Bitty Bunch: These guys collect flowers from markets, put them into bunches and deliver them to houses. Beautiful! www.ittybittybunch.com
– Juice Lovers Juicery: The freshly squeezed apple juice was incredibly fresh and sweet! @juiceloversjuicery

Notable mentions were the renowned Barossa Fine Foods, Everything Adelaide was lucky enough to try an array of meats that melted in my mouth. As the night wore on, it became clear to me just how lucky we are to be living in a city that is beginning to compete on the world stage with its products and innovation. It was a fantastic event that brought together so many people who love Adelaide for the amazing city it has become!
