Sunshine, lollipops and good vibes at Mister Sunshine’s

One aspect I have always loved about Adelaide are the little cafes hidden around every corner. Even if you don’t know where to look you’re bound to accidentally stumble upon a cute cafe that will instantly become your favourite.

A popular cafe that I have always driven past on the bus but have never stepped foot into (until today) is Mister Sunshine’s at Thebarton. This small cafe overlooked by large trees allows customers enjoy a tasty meal and feel the relaxed, good vibes. The menu offers a very appealing all day breakfast as well as selected lunch dishes. The prices are also incredibly decent ranging from $5.5 to $19, ideal if you don’t intend on spending too much.

Looking at the menu I couldn’t turn down poached eggs with bacon on the side along with an iced coffee. The dish was presented on an old school ceramic plate that had pictures of daisies and sunflowers. This specifically reminded me of my grandmother’s plates, which gave the cafe an overall home away from home touch.

Both eggs were poached to perfection and were light and fluffy. As soon as the knife lightly sliced the outer layer soft yolk oozed out, delicious! Beneath the eggs was a thick slice of continental bread that had a crisp pastry-like texture and contrasted the softness of the eggs. Similarly, the bacon was also crispy and delectable but was a tad too salty. Nevertheless, the dish was delightful and the iced coffee topped it off nicely.

The cafe is open seven days a week until 3:30pm weekdays and 3pm on weekends. Surprisingly, they also have additional takeaway options, which is great! The staff are also super friendly and attend to all your dining needs in the politest way possible. Without a doubt, Mister Sunshine’s has been added to Everything Adelaide’s top 5 favourite breakfast/lunch cafes. We will be sure to return soon.
