Australian fashionistas have a lot to be proud of, especially being home to some of the world’s most loved fashion labels. Last night Everything Adelaide attended the fourth Labels Style Market held at The Highway from 6-9pm. Though this was the fourth running market, it was a first for the Everything Adelaide team. The open event was created, shared and promoted on social media sites including Facebook and Instagram, one of the more common ways in today’s society to let the public know about market events. Promising to be a good night of shopping, we were intrigued to see how many people would arrive out of the one thousand who clicked ‘attending’.
Upon arrival, the line was longer than expected at 5:25pm, thirty-five minutes before the event began. The entry fee was $2 and the first 30 people through the door also received a free labels goodie bag full of vouchers and awesome freebies.
The market had 100 racks containing 100 labels including Finders Keepers, Sass and Bide, Cameo, Eska Alikai and Raw Lace. Some of our personal favourites were definitely The Fifth label and Finders Keepers. Out of the multiple items of clothing that were bought, the favourite was a black and white floral coat/jacket from The Fifth for only $10!
Unlike films and tv shows that project fashion stores and markets as utter chaos, the Labels Style market had a nice flow to it. At first, yes, everyone was excited as soon as they walked through the doors (who wouldn’t be??), but as things started to settle down and bottles of wine began to open, it was a great way to spend a Thursday evening.
Next market date: March 17th @ The Highway (290 Anzac Highway, Plympton) 6-9pm
See you there!
